Fleas
We do not groom pets who the owners are aware have fleas. If your pet has fleas please take them to the vet for proper medication and don't forget to treat your home. Since my salon is a home based one I cannot take a chance on my own pet's picking up fleas or my grooming dog's picking up fleas from other customers. If your pet has fleas but is also due for a groom please get them treated before booking with us. Thank you for understanding.
No Show/late cancellation
& Late Drop Off Policy
When someone doesn't show up for their appointment it takes up space for another appointment, and the groomer loses their pay. Our policy is that clients who do not show up for an appointment (first time will be given a pass) must pay 50% off the missed appointment fee the next time they are in. If a client is a chronic no shower we may ask the client to do a non-refundable pre-payment before booking their next appointment.
If you need to cancel or rescheduel an appointment, please let us know at a minimum of 24hrs before. Late cancellations make it almost impossible for the appointment to be filled. Making the groomer loose income. If a true emergency happens, we understand. But if the average last minute cancellation happens, there is a chance we may charge a cancellation fee (50% price of groom) to make up for loss income. If need be we can set up a email or text remidner that sends you a message 4 days prior to your appt, and also the day before,
If you are 15 mins, or more, late for your appointment time we may no longer have the time to groom your pet before our next appointment. It may mess up our schedule for the day if we do take your pet in. There may be the odd time where we would still have time to accommodate you though. But please be sure to be on time or your appointment may have to be canceled.
Matted Pet Policy
At Paw Spa we follow Humanity before Vanity when it comes to matted and pelted pets.
Matted coats can cause a variety of skin & health problems. Matted fur does not allow for air circulation to the skin, causing hot spots, bacterial and fungal infections. Fleas, ticks, maggots and other parasites may be lurking in the coat causing further skin infections.
Matted fur also pulls and binds, causing pain to your pet when they move or lay on mats. The skin underneath is usually raw and inflamed. Matted coats will not dry properly and can lead to rotting fur and skin.
Due to matting, your dog’s hair may need to be shaved extremely short to the skin and may show signs of skin irritations and sores due to matting, wet undercoat and dirty coat.
Due to the condition of your dog, we may determined that the only humane thing to do is to shave the dog’s coat down. This is a short clip, removing all the matting. Where feasible, we work to de-mat/brush out the dog’s coat, but only when it would not cause excessive pain and suffering to attempt to do so.
Pick Up Policy
Paw Spa will give you a time for when your pet will be ready. Please pick up your pet within 15 min of that time. If I call when your pet is done, please be prepared to leave and pick up ASAP. We do one on one appointments and we try to keep the salon cage free, to do that we need pet owners to be on time. We are not equipped for daycare; if you are more than 30 mins late for pickup “daycare” fees of $5 per 15 mins may be applied.
Double Coat Shave Down Acknowledgement
If you chose to have your double coated dog shaved (breeds like golden retriever, husky, shepherds, pomeranians etc) any of these may occur/happen:
•We cannot guarantee that the dog's coat will grow back after shaving
•Coat may grow back uneven, choppy or just the soft under coat may grow back (no guard hairs).
•Shaving may cause irritation and/or rash.
•Shaving does not reduce shedding; it only makes the shedding coat shorter.
•Clipping down a double-coated dog can look uneven or choppy depending on your dog's coat type and the length requested. Our groomers will do their best to make the haircut look the best possible
